| About April Mawhinney
April
Mawhinney was born in Northern Ireland in 1979 and has studied at the
University of Ulster, the Oslo National Academy of the Arts in Norway
and Winchester School of Art, gaining a degree in Textile Art. She now
lives in Hampshire, England, UK.
After her degree, April worked
as a Textile Designer in Northern Ireland. Later returning to Hampshire,
April turned her attentions to creating handbags and accessories. In
2005 Little Red was born and in 2006 April won a residency at the
prestigious Arches studios in Southampton.
As well as running her own accessories label, Little Red, April also creates surface designs which can be used as wallpaper, fabric, greeting card or logo designs. When she isn't making acceosries and sourcing leather, she spends her time drawing, doodling, designing and photographing the world.

business began in December 2005 with the launch of Little Red's very own
website www.littereddesigns.co.uk.
Little Red specialises in
creating handmade leather handbags, purses and accessories by combining
sumptuous leathers with vintage, modern and recycled fabrics.
Little
Red was created out of an excitement for leather, vintage design and
craftsmanship. All pieces are designed and handmade by April in her
Hampshire based studio.
April mostly works to commission and
prides herself in her level of knowledge and expertise.
Little
Red’s bags are either unique or limited edition pieces. April only
creates items for the Little Red label that she loves and treasures, and
she hopes you will too!
